Ten on Tuesday

1. I am having one of those- I have so much to do that I don't even know where to start so I'll just spend the day on the couch- type of days. I know I will regret this later... Blah! :/

2. This week I started my diet/exercise routine... I'm doing weight watchers which has worked for me before. I'm going to start out on my own- using my books and points plus calculator. Last time I did the online program which I loved and is pretty reasonable but I want to make sure I'm going to stick with it before I spend the money. Especially since last month I dropped $50 on a bag of Body by Vi shakes and have only drank 2 shakes- it was an expensive way to learn that I am not a shake a day type of girl- I like the act of chewing food a little to much. I'm hoping to lose 20lbs by July- maybe if I post my progress on here it will keep me accountable??

3. I bought an iPad and I LOVE it!!

4. My neighbor is getting a new roof today... its super loud and driving my dogs nuts making them bark up a storm which is driving me crazy!!!!!

5. We have so many family members & friends with birthdays in MAY- its going to be a busy month!

6. I love watching my daughter and the other little girls in her dance class-  they are so cute and just love to tap tap tap!

7. The new season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey started on Sunday! I can't help it- I LOVE reality tv!!

8. The plan today was to make spaghetti with a homemade sauce and meatballs but it ended up being a Papa John's kind of night.

9. One of the local grocery stores Winn Dixie has a program called fuel perks, basicly you spend a certain amount of money and you get so much off a gallon of gas- they also have bonus perks where you buy certain items for extra money off per gallon up to 20 gallons. I have not taken advantage of this program but my bestie has $3.10 off per gallon which means she will only pay 70- 80 cents a gallon!!!

10. This week my goal is to finish painting my living room and clean out the garage- I'll let you know how that goes... :p

Whats for supper?!

Supper seems to be an every day struggle in my home. There are 3 major problems-
1. I am not a mind reader (although my family thinks I am) and when I ask what they want for supper I always get an "I don't know"!
2. I never liked to be in the kitchen growing up and until recently I still wasn't so sure of my ability to cook. With that said, I am very limited on the meals that I actually know how and feel comfortable cooking. (Mom always said I needed to learn to cook, I should have listened... by the way Mom is ALWAYS right!)
3. Last but not least- I live with two of the pickiest eaters ever! My husband is a serious meat and potatoes guy and my daughter seems to only like "crunchy" food. Which is probably from eating chicken nuggets and shake n bake everything.

Our weekly meals typically consist of tacos or nachos, spaghetti with or without meatballs depending on how tired I am that day, oven fried pork chops or chicken legs (crunchy as my daughter calls them), pepper steak with rice (my FAVE) and breakfast. I try to make a nice supper on Sundays which is usually a baked chicken or a roast. We often eat out or order in to switch it up a little bit but that can get expensive and not to mention, I find myself disappointed more than satisfied with restaurant food. So with the help of Pinterest (I should be paid for how many times I recommend this site!) I have started to venture out into the wonderful world of cooking. Last night I made crunchy pork chops and paired them with green beans and a new side which came from a recipe I found on Pinterest (which took me to iVillage) for bacon mac and cheese. It was delicious and pretty simple- if I can do it so can YOU!

The left is the picture from Pinterest and the one on the right is mine! ** I recommend not skipping out on the sour cream and chive toppings- it adds a little tang!

P- Plaster Palace

Yesterday while looking for something kid friendly to do, I came across a local place- Plaster Palace. It's a cute little shop where you go in pick your piece of pottery, paint colors and simply let the creativity flow! When finished you chose a glaze and can even add glitter if you like, then your new custom piece is ready to go. There is no firing or waiting a few days to take your work home.

Alissa chose a butterfly to go along with the decor in her room and I picked the letter "A" also for her bedroom. We spent a total of $30.00- this will definitely be added to our list of fun summer stuff to do!

  2. Its 1am, so technically its Wednesday not Tuesday- lol
  3. I finished reading the book, night road (see previous post) and highly recommend it. Wondering what I will read next... any suggestions??
  4. Tonight I made chicken breast for dinner and jazzed it up with Kraft's new all in one breading and cheese bags- I used the bacon & cheddar- it was so simple & delicious!
  5. I need to buy dog food and light bulbs...
  6. I wish my closet was magically filled with all of the wonderful outfits and shoes I find on Pinterest!
  7. This looks like something I want to try for supper this week- YUM!
  8. I'm sorry that this isn't a better 10 for Tues...
  9. Going to bed now....
  10. Good Night & Sweet Dreams <3

O- Orlando

Orlando, Florida is one of my family's favorite get away spots! There are so many fun options- theme parks, great shopping selections, so many different (delicious) restaurants, great hotels and much more!

Last year we took Alissa to Disney's Magic Kingdom for the first time and she loved it! It really is a magical experience. As a child, I loved to go to Disney World. I can remember the pure excitement when first walking into The Magic Kingdom and seeing Cinderella's Castle! (She was and has always been my favorite!) Now as an adult, better yet a mother, I still feel the same excitement but with a little something more... I love watching my daughter's face light up and see to see the sparkle in her eyes when she meets a Princess or favorite character.

This year instead of spending a small fortune on her 6th birthday party that would only last a few hours we decided to buy annual passes to Disney and make a weekend out of it. My husband works for a car dealership so our story was, we we're going out to town to pick up a car for daddy's work and that we we're going to stay the night in a hotel so we didn't have to wake up early to drive (we are all night owls, including Alissa) so long story short we drove the 2 hours to Orlando, checked into the hotel and went to sleep. The next morning my husband snuck out before she woke up and came back with a bouquet of Disney balloons and a singing Mickey Mouse card- She was so excited!!

We spent the next few days park hopping, making memories, and having a blast!!

Summer is right around the corner and those of us with school age kids will be looking for ways to keep them busy. I will post the fun things I find along the way- Lets start with something free!

Go to and sign your kids up for some free bowling! After registering your child/ children they will receive 2 FREE games of bowling EVERY DAY for the whole summer.

N- night road

I love to read and always try to find time to fit in a good book. My Aunt let me borrow "night road- a novel" by Kristin Hannah. I'm in the middle and love it! Its an easy read and very hard to put down...

Here's the cover-

For a mother, life comes down to a series of choices.
To hold on...
To let go...
To forget...
To forgive...
Which road will you take?

night road

For eighteen years, Jude Farraday has put her children's needs above her own, and it shows- her twins, Mia and Zach, are bright and happy teenagers. When Lexi Baill moves into their small, close-knit community, no one is more welcoming than Jude. Lexi, a former foster child with a dark past, quickly becomes Mia's best friend. Then Zach falls in love with Lexi and the three become inseparable.

Jude does everything to keep her kids on track for college and out of harm's way. It has always been easy- until senior year of high school. Suddenly she is at a loss. Nothing feels safe anymore; every time Mia and Zach leave the house, she worries about them.

On a hot summer's night her worst fears are realized. One decision will change the course of their lives. In the blink of an eye, the Farraday family will be torn apart and Lexi will lose everything. In the years that follow, each must face the consequences of that single night and find a way to forget... or the courage to forgive.

Vivid, universal, and emotionally complex. Night road raises profound questions about motherhood, identity, love, and forgiveness. It is a luminous, heartbreaking novel that captures both the exquisite pain of loss and the stunning power of hope. This is Kristin Hannah at her very best, telling unforgettable story about the longing for family, the resilience of the human heart, and the courage it takes to forgive the people we love.

If you have read a good book, please feel free to recommend... Happy Reading Everyone!!

Impractical Jokers is one of my favorite shows! It comes on truTV on Thursday night. This show is about four guys, Sal, Murr, Q, and Joe that have been friends for years daring each other to do some of the most crazy things. They  introduce the show with this- "Warning: The following program contains scenes of graphic stupidity among four lifelong friends who compete to embarrass each other."

If you're ever bored, having one of THOSE days, or just need a little laugh Google- Impractical Jokers!!

H- Housework

I don't know about you but I love a fresh clean house. There is nothing more relaxing then when everything is done- dishes, laundry, beds made, floors clean, all toys put away, etc. The one thing I don't particularly care for about a clean house is the actual process of cleaning it! Its back breaking and a constant in my life- not a day goes by that there isn't something to clean and on the few occasions I decide to do nothing (which is never actually nothing) it looks like a hurricane ran through my house and her name is Hurricane Lulu (my daughters nickname)!

Well I'm off to get some of these chores done before my little hurricane wakes up! She is taking full advantage of spring break and sleeping in as late as she can. :) Happy Cleaning Everyone <3

G- Grey Walls

My master bedroom is the one room in the house that is completely lacking any style. Typical mom- leave yourself last! The only thing I have done is paint the walls this great shade of smoky grey. I have found so many ideas and its pretty much all over the place which is why I haven't made any moves towards decorating. Here are some of my finds...

There are a ton more pictures but I am not happy with the way they are uploading to my blog... my ocd is kicking in- time to go to bed! I'm certain we will be visiting this topic again. Good Night <3

E & F- Easter & Family

I know the rules of the A-Z challenge are to blog one letter of the alphabet per day but I am a slacker and as long as we're being honest, a rule breaker too! With that being said, I've decided to combine the letters E and F into one eventful posting.

We usually spend Easter hanging around my parents house eating and relaxing all day. This year is pretty much the same but for an added bonus we have family visiting from up north, my Aunt and 3 of her 4 kids! They flew in yesterday and we spent the night catching up while baking and coloring eggs. I found these neon glitter eggs on Pinterest that I thought would be fun to make. We attempted them and this is how ours turned out...

Not to shabby and we had a blast making them!

The cupcakes were just as pretty but I didn't get a chance to snap any pictures... they were Pillsbury Funfetti Spring Fling Cake Mix dyed pink and purple with Pillsbury No-Fuss Frosting in vanilla, edible pink and purple spray paint (from Jo-Ann's) then topped with matching colored sugar. We also used these really pretty flower paper liners, also pink and purple (see our theme- lol) and also from Jo-Ann's.

I spent the night filling over 150 plastic eggs and playing Easter Bunny. Yes, Alissa is SUPER SPOILED but I justify it with her being an only child.. :)) She was so happy when she woke up this morning and it was so worth it.

Then we made our way over to my parents house for moms delicious breakfast ring, some swimming for the kids (the water is still to cold for me), prepping for supper and the egg hunt.

Supper consisted of the traditional ham, potatoes and veggies, and being Italian and recent dental work for my parents we had moms amazing homemade lasagna. Afterwards everyone found a comfy spot and we all napped. It was such a great day, nothing fancy just some quality family time!!

D- Dieting

This about sums up my thoughts and success when it comes to dieting!

C- Circus

This year we went to "The Greatest Show on Earth" and it was just that! It was my first time to the circus and I had a BLAST! With so many amazing acts its hard to choose a favorite but I do have a soft spot for the elephants. If you've never been I recommend you experience the circus at least once.

B- Betty Kristi

I have a really good friend who loves to work her magic in the kitchen. One day my husband called her Betty Kristi and it just stuck. I have had the pleasure of enjoying her cooking for the last 5 years and look forward to many more! Check out her blog Betty Kristi and get to know one of my best friends!

A- My New Adventure

Being new to blogging I decided to join the A to Z Blogging Challenge. Basically you blog one letter each day in April- excluding Sundays. As you can see I need to jump to the letter S for slacker! We are 4 days into the challenge and I have yet to write for my first letter... typical me.
I have found a new love in blog surfing and look forward to sharing to mine. This challenge has already brought new followers to my page. I get super excited to see comments on my posts (yes, I'm a dork! lol). With that being said, I have every intention to catch up and finish strong!

*Thanks Three Loud Kids for sharing the challenge with me!*
